While some people do use very heavily diluted bleach to mop wooden flooring and laminate floors, you should never do this unless the manufacturer of your flooring explicitly states it is safe to do so. Using bleach cleaners on floors that are not bleach-safe can cause irreparable damage, even if it is diluted.

Depending on the type of floor you have, there may still be laminate flooring water damage. Occasional spills should be nothing to worry about. But if your floor is submerged or stays in contact with water long enough, it can swell and break down. Water damaged boards can’t be fixed, but they can be replaced.

Laminate flooring offers home owners the look of real wood at a more affordable price. Most laminate is also more durable than wood, better at resisting dents and scratches. In addition, laminate can be installed in rooms of the house where hardwood floors are not an option, such as in a bathroom or basement. Not all laminate flooring is 100% water resistant. Understanding AC Ratings:

AC4 = Flooring choice for residential areas, small shops and offices with moderately intense traffic. Mostly used in commercial applications.

AC5 – Durable flooring for high-traffic commercial areas. Mostly suitable for office buildings, department stores, shopping centers etc.

Panel Construction

A. The top surface is practically abrasion-proof and hard-wearing. It consists of a resistant protective overlay film which is fused with an attractive resinated decorative film.
B. Then comes the supportive core which is formed of extremely dense HDF fiber board (HDF, E71).
C. The high structural stability is ensured and preserved by a dampness impeding stabilization film which is placed on the undersurface.
D. In order to minimize ambient noise and other sounds like footsteps, selected floorings are fitted with an additional sound design underlay.

Dos

. Clean the laminate floor by vacuuming or with broom to remove loose dirt and dust.

. Wipe liquid spills like tea or coffee immediately with a cloth.

. ‘When you need heavier cleaning, use special laminate flooring cleaner. You can also use a mixture of household vinegar and water (1 cup vinegar to 1 gallon warm water) or else, household ammonia and water (1/2 cup ammonia to 1 gallon warm water).

. For bad, deep stains; use acetone or denatured alcohol with a soft cloth. It will spare your floor from bleaching and other damages. You can also use a pinch of nail polish remover as a substitute as it contains acetone.

* Avoid excessive wear and damage by using door mats and rugs outside room entrances and in front of kitchen sink and refrigerator. It will help in keeping dirt and grit off your floor and result in protection from high traffic as well.

. On the legs of chairs and tables, choose to use protective felt pads. Rubber wheels instead of plastic casters on chairs save your floor from wear and tear. Always lift heavy objects rather than sliding them on the floor.

. You can move heavy furniture and appliances across the floor by putting them over trolleys with wheels.

. In case of minor damages to the laminate plank or tile, you can get it repaired with laminate finishing putty. If the damage is larger than of an inch, it is advisable to call our team to assess the damage and suggest suitable solution.

Don’ts

. Wipe away the water spills immediately. Do not let it stand for long time.

+ Avoid waxing or refinishing the laminate floor.

* While cleaning the floor, do not use soap, detergent-based cleaners, wax-based products, any type of polish, bleach, or oil. They will ruin your floors by leaving a dull, filmy residue.

. If things like gum or candle wax stick to your floor, the best way to get rid of it is by letting it harden completely first. You can then scrape it off gently with a plastic scraper. Do not try to scrape them off immediately. The leftover residue can be cleaned with a special Laminate flooring cleaner and a rag.

Water makes the planks swell. Please avoid laminate flooring in places which are wet most of the times.

If you really like it, you can have laminate flooring in your kitchen. However, you need to follow specific guidelines like choosing a laminated flooring of high wear resistance of minimum Class32/AC4. Liquid spills need to be wiped off immediately with proper care.

It is fairly easy to clean laminated flooring. Avoid using liquid cleaners like phenyl or detergents. In case you need to clean your laminate floor, use slightly damp but well wrung out cloth. For extra tough stains, acetone can be used to clean the stain & then the surface needs to be wiped with a clean damp cloth.

If you install the planks in the same direction as the main light source in the room, it will bring out the best results in all ways.

In combination with water floor heating, laminated flooring can be installed and used in a good manner. However, there are certain conditions to do that. Make sure that the warm water tubes are at least 3 cm underneath the surface. Also, the water in the tubes must not exceed the temperature of 28°C. Avoid high temperature variations (plus and minus) while switching on/ off the under-floor heating. Make sure you follow the guidance of your under-floor heating installer.

Yes, they definitely are. Gluing them on the stair is recommended. Or you can also install the floors on commercial plywood and finish with a stair nose.

Laminated floors are not scratch proof. However, they do come with different scratch resistance levels (AC3 to Ac5). You can choose the right laminate flooring as per the nature of expected use and conditions. While a high heel shoe or soft rubber wheels don’t affect laminate floors, care should be taken with sharp objects, furniture legs, wheels etc. Use felt or plastic caps. Place a good quality doormat at the entrance to avoid sand and grit on the floor.

No, laminated floors are absolutely environment friendly. European standards are followed while using chemical ingredients, making sure the laminate floors do not pose any threat to health.
